Hero Maestro is the first scooter from independent Hero MotorCorp. The new Maestro is based on Honda’s Activa. This freshly designed scooter is targeted towards those who need a scooter that provides freedom from gear shifting, good storage, size and ample comfort but which does not look feminine.
The front of the Hero Maestro has a black coloured visor and a two-tone rear-view mirror. Two-angled lines run from the top of the apron and extend to the front mudguard which adds some muscular appeal to it. The Hero Maestro has a sharp tail and nose. Side panels are well executed with matte black strips running in between. The rectangular tail light covers the entire area at the rear along with the clear lens indicators. Grab rails are both stylish and come in handy.
The Hero Maestro has a single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, OHC 109 cc engine which generates 8.2 bhp @ 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 9.10 Nm @ 5500 rpm. The Maestro is lighter at 108 kg.
The seat is wide and well-cushioned. The footboard is flat and spacious and the pillion gets properly placed on foldable footrests. There is a storage box at the front with a lot of room. The height and position of the handlebar are very comfortable and give one an upright stance while riding.
The instrument cluster has a three-pod layout which houses a digital display and all warning lights sitting at either side of the central round speedometer. The digital display shows basic information like a fuel gauge, single-trip meter, odometer and service due warning message and it has an orange coloured back-light.
A lockable ignition cover is an added feature.
Under-seat storage is ample and can house a full-sized helmet easily. One feature that is carried over from Honda is the Combined Braking System. The 130 mm drums with a Combined Braking System have brakes on both wheels that are applied even when you press the left brake lever only. For the first time, this technology is making its appearance on a non-Honda scooter. The scooter has a carburettor-type fuel system and CDI-type ignition with one spark plug. It also has dry automatic clutches with variomatic drives. The tyres are 90/100×10”-53J.
The Maestro comes in colours of force silver, panther black, blazing red, pearl white and harvest green.
The Maestro takes about 10.5 s to reach from 0 to 60 mph. The Maestro has a top speed of 90 mph. The Hero Maestro’s fuel efficiency is 50 km.
The bike comes with a wheelbase of 1240 mm and a ground clearance of 155 mm. The fuel tank capacity of the bike is 5.3 litres.
The Hero Maestro is priced at an affordable Rupees 46,400.
